-Hon. Solaja pledges governor’s intervention, donates N100, 000
Mrs Iyabo Afusat Sanni, the mother of Ganiyat, the girl who has problem with her two kidneys, has appealed to the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for assistance for her daughter’s kidney transplant operation.
She made the appeal through the representative of Ikorodu Constituency II, Hon. Nurudeen Solaja, when the lawmaker paid a courtesy visit to her residence in Imota in the company of members of THE IMPACT Group special committee that is championing the #SaveGaniyatSanni campaign.
In Hon. Solaja’s entourage were Mrs Funke Awoyemi, Chairman, THE IMPACT Group special committee, Mr Francis Shokunbi, member, and Kunle Adelabu, Publisher/Reporter-in-Chief, THE IMPACT newspaper.
The worried mother, who has volunteered to donate one of her kidneys to save her daughter’s life, made the passionate appeal due to the difficulty in raising the N8. 5m needed for the kidney transplant in Nigeria and the sum of $15, 000 needed to carry out the transplant in India with the additional $10, 000 needed for accommodation, feeding and flight expenses of the victim , mother and an assistant.
“I want to thank you for deeming it fit to pay us a visit and check on our daughter with medical condition. This is a very rare visit and we greatly appreciate this gesture despite your tight schedule.
“Sir, I want to appeal to you in the name of God and for the sake of our daughter’s life that you should help take her matter to the Governor for assistance”, she said in tears.
“This people that came with you have tried a lot to raise the needed fund. I do not know them from Adam but they have risen to the occasion. We don’t have much time again based on what the doctors are saying.
“Please, help us take her matter to the government for quick intervention”, she pleaded.
Hon. Solaja, in his remarks, assured Ganiyat’s parents that she is going to live a fulfilled life.
“I will only appeal to you to stay calm and believe that God is able in perfecting everything concerning Ganiyat’s condition. I have not been around and I just came back but I got to know about her condition through THE IMPACT Group.
“These are people with honour and integrity and I can assure you that they will ensure that whatever that is raised is used judiciously”.
On the mother’s request for government intervention, Hon. Solaja pledged to take up the matter and present it to the Governor of the State.
“You can be rest assured about that I have told the group what to do and once that is done, I will take it up from there.
“We have a listening and caring Governor who is ready to help and I have no doubt that he will be willing to help in addressing Ganiyat’s matter”, he stated.
“We are going to work with the new governor to make sure that the State takes over Ganiyat’s case”, he assured.
To show his commitment to Ganiyat’s condition, Hon. Solaja donated N100, 000 towards her kidney transplant.
He also admonished the family to find strength in Ganiyat’s condition.
“This is the time for the family to stay together and help Ganiyat. She needs her family’s love and care more. The father must be ready to rally his family together and give them hope”, he advised.
Mr Sanni thanked Hon. Solaja for his concern towards their daughter and pray that God would continue to guide and protect his path.
